How the project came about?

Clients from all states and territories regularly contact RMIT about availability of off-campus delivery of Certificate IV in Electrical-Instrumentation (UEE40407), which appears in the National Skills Needs List (NSNL) under classification Electrician (special class). 

Clients from regional Victoria, South Australia, and other states have long expressed concerns about lost workplace time and associated costs incurred to access this training.  In 2009 RMIT conducted a successful trial using internal funds to pilot blended mode delivery of electrical-instrumentation competencies to distance learners in an attempt to redress this situation.
